General News

Welcome to the blog of a A Last Chance PowerDrive.

I started this diary as I traveled round India and Nepal on a motorbike from October - December 2011. I started it as something to do on the many evenings that I spent by myself in a cafe or restaurant with no one to talk to, and as a way of recording the events that happened to me.

However, it turned into something a bit more and started me on a path of writing that I haven't really turned back from. I have edited and extended these adventures into three books, collectively called A Last Chance PowerDrive. The first two, 'Gods on Tour' and 'Of Death and the Desert' are currently available on Amazon, and the third part, 'Walking in the Footsteps of a Buddha' will be available early 2013.

I have also got a novel, co-written with Lucy Robson out, and am halfway through a children's book set in Carthage, 250BC. Details of all of these, and other blog posts and news, are all available on benedictbeaumont.co.uk .

I am about to retire to the French Alps for six months to continue writing.

Much love

Benedict

Next installment...

Part 2 of A Last Chance PowerDrive Completed! It is called Of Death and the Desert and will be published in a month or two. It deals with the existential problems of when you are ready for death and driving round in a desert on a bike.

Photos of Part 1 are up available here Possibly even photos from Part 2 if you are inquisitive.

Have finished first novel, Letter to India with my friend Lucy which will be published soon. Lots more writing projects on the go too; a book about teaching called 'The Two Rules to Teaching' and a Kids book set 250BC in North Africa.

Have started using twitter quite a lot @benedictbeau so keep up to date there.

Right, back to crying over Murrays loss at the tennis.

You've read the Blog, now buy the book!

As you can see by the background change, the book is now has a rather good cover designed by my friends peterwoolf.com .  It is also published and available in the Amazon bookstore. Click here for details . It will shortly be available on Apples Ibooks and in Barnes and Noble too.  I would be very grateful for any feedback, even if it is constructive rather than positive!

A few photos from my trip are available here on my Flickr account. You can also connect to me in many ways, twitter, fb, linked in; all details are on my about.me/benedictbeaumont page.

Am halfway through Part 2, Confronting Death in the Desert, which I hope will be finished by August, and available in September. Part 3, Walking in a Buddhas footsteps may take slightly longer. Whilst I was in the Alps, I also completed a novel, co-written with my very good friend Lucy Robson. Letter to India is now searching for a publisher, but I will keep you updated. It is quite a dark little novel, all about grief and abandonment and the human condition. And there are a few naughty bits in it too.

I am now back in the sunny south coast teaching at a school in Eastbourne until the summer. Despite several offers of permanent teaching jobs I have so far refused them all to carry on this marvellous mad adventurous trajectory of writing, cooking, travelling but above living I seem to be on.

Much love

Post Script 2

Hi

Hope you had the christmas and holidays that you needed. Its been an intense 10 days for me, I had a lot of family and friends to cram in a short space of time.

I realised very soon after I returned that I was not ready to come back properly. Not ready to settle back into living in Brighton, not ready to find a new job, not ready to resume my life where I left it in September. I am not sure I will ever be ready to be honest.

I leave tomorrow for Val d'Isere in the French Alps, where I will be spending 4 months running a chalet. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

I will also be writing. As well as spending time editing A Last Chance, I have a number of other projects I will be working on. I am tempted to do another blog, but not sure yet. If I do I will post details of it here. I will leave this content up for a few weeks at least. I am not sure yet if I will keep it up.

So, once again thanks for accompanying me on this journey. I wish you joy and success on your own.

Love
Benedict
